About Eurovision News Spotlight
Eurovision News Spotlight, launched in 2025, brings together journalists, fact-checkers and OSINT experts from across the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) membership to share knowledge, develop best practices and strengthen the fight against misinformation and disinformation.
Why Eurovision News Spotlight?
False and misleading information can spread globally within minutes, shaping public opinion long before the facts emerge. For journalists and fact-checkers, staying ahead of this constantly evolving challenge requires collaboration, expertise and shared knowledge.
Members of the Spotlight network converse and collaborate daily, in real time, on the latest trends in misinformation, social media narratives, and circulating fake news. They also share the latest tools and techniques in this fast-changing area of journalism, and have the opportunity to work together with colleagues in other newsrooms on larger-scale collaborative fact-checks and OSINT investigations.
As well as working with EBU Member newsrooms on their fact-checking and OSINT output, Eurovision News Spotlight publishes newsletters and original work through its website. Through its collaboration with the EBU Academy, the Spotlight team hosts a free quarterly learning session that showcases recent case studies and updates on tools, trends and techniques from the community.
Once a year, the Spotlight network meets for an in-person workshop to exchange ideas, present their work, and brainstorm future collaborations. The most recent meeting was held in Brussels in March 2026.
