Radio France will host the third edition of Eurovision News | Spotlight Agile Newsroom in Paris on 22-24 September.
This free event offers a unique opportunity for journalists from across the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) membership and partner organisations actively involved in content verification, OSINT, and fact-checking to collaborate and form a dynamic, real-time newsroom.
The Agile Newsroom is all about hands-on experience in a fully functional newsroom environment. You'll be working alongside international peers on the stories of the day, not only to verify and clear content, but also debunk misinformation, disinformation, and AI-generated content.
This immersive, "learning by doing" methodology fosters rapid learning and practical skill development, ensuring participants gain tangible skills and a deeper understanding of social newsgathering, fact-checking, and OSINT techniques.

Programme
Monday 22 September: EBU Academy Training (Optional)
To help attendees prepare for the working environment, the EBU Academy, in conjunction with Eurovision News | Spotlight will offer three free training courses at Radio France on Monday 22 September. This optional day provides a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills before diving into the Agile Newsroom.
10:00 - 11:30: Social Footprinting- Uncovering Digital Traces for Investigative Research
Participants will explore the methodologies and tools used in social footprinting, gaining practical experience through hands-on exercises and case studies. They will learn how to collect and interpret digital traces, uncover connections, and identify potential leads for further investigation.12:00 - 13:30: Disinformation and misinformation: Fact-Checking and Debunking Eyewitness Content
Arm yourself with the tools to identify and combat disinformation. This session will teach participants enhanced techniques on how to fact-check and debunk false or misleading eyewitness content, ensuring the credibility of your reporting.14:30 - 16:00: Using AI and Digital Forensics Tools in Investigative Journalism
Participants will learn how to harness AI for tasks like analysing large datasets, identifying patterns, and automating document review, while also mastering digital forensics techniques for recovering data, tracing online activity, and verifying digital evidence.
Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 September: The Agile Newsroom (09:00-17:00)
Across 23 and 24 September, the Agile Newsroom will immerse participants in collaborative teams focused on the real-time work of verifying, clearing, and debunking content related to unfolding news events, fostering immediate knowledge and skill sharing. Participants will gain practical experience in:
Advanced verification techniques: Learn how to critically assess the authenticity and reliability of social media content.
OSINT methodologies: Discover and utilise open-source tools and strategies for in-depth investigation and information gathering.
Identifying and combating disinformation: Develop skills to recognise and debunk false or misleading narratives.
Ethical considerations in online investigations: Understand the responsible and ethical use of OSINT and verification techniques.
Building on the success of previous Agile Newsrooms, which brought together 60 attendees in Vienna (2017) and 70 in Sarajevo (2018), this Paris edition promises another valuable opportunity to enhance your social newsgathering, fact-checking, and OSINT skills, and expand your professional network.
